How we help – live in and homecare support to help with shopping
Shopping
Q. I am very particular about what I want and like to get things myself.
How can you help when I find it difficult to get out to the shops?
A. One possibility is for your helper to take you to the shops and accompany you
around helping to collect what you need. Another is to give the helper a very precise list, and to be clear that alternatives will not do – if they are unsure, perhaps they can telephone you, as all our staff have mobile phones.
Q. How do I arrange to pay for things I ask my helper to get for me?
A. Either by giving them the money beforehand – all our staff are required to get full
receipts for anything they buy for their customers, or you can arrange for our office to
hold a balance from which the helper can draw. Our accounts manager will keep a
running total of what you have spent, and will account to you for all the purchases made.
